HC seeks report on food poisoning in hostel for blind

The high court today sought a detailed reply from the Delhi Government on the incident of food poisoning involving 30 residents of a blind students hostel in North Delhi who fell ill after eating hostel food November 11.

The criminals in the district seem to have thrown an open challenge to the district police chief who has vowed to cleanse the district of all crimes. The thieves decamped with valuables worth lakhs from the house of an insurance agent in the vicinity of the SSP’s official residence.

Food inspector held while taking bribe
Sonepat, November 13
Chhattar Singh Dahiya, an inspector of the Food and Supplies Department posted at Kharkhauda town, was yesterday arrested by officials of the Haryana Vigilance Department while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 750 from an arhtiya, Mr Chanda Singh, owner of Chand Trading Company, Kharkhauda.

A huge plot, meant for construction of a unique facility centre for the convenience of more than 500-odd industrial houses in the Patparganj Industrial Area of East Delhi, has now turned into a landfill area. In addition, the proposed Udyog Sadan and a third access road to this area are still a distant dream for the entrepreneurs and workers of this area, thanks to the apathy of the Delhi Government.

Mini Haryana theme park to come up near GT Road

The Haryana Government has taken the decision to develop a theme park in HUDA’s Sector 7 adjacent to the GT Road in the district. The park, which will be developed in an area of 10 acres, will be known as Mini Haryana.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has notified 17 cases of dengue during the last 24 hours taking the toll to 2,720. No fresh cases of death because of the fever have been reported so far.

Man gets three-yr RI for setting neighbour’s ‘chhappar’ afire
Sonepat, November 13
The District and Sessions Judge of Sonepat, Mr B L Singhal, yesterday convicted the accused Parveen of Fazilpur village under Section 435 IPC and sentenced him to three years rigorous’ imprisonment with a fine of Rs 3,000 and under Section 429 IPC to two years’ rigorous imprisonment in a case of setting the ‘chhappar’ of a neighbour’s house on fire. It resulted in the death of a buffalo and gutted several other things.

With the arrest of one person, the Civil line police have solved the murder of a woman, Ms Sheela, on January 15, 2003. According to a report, the culprit has been identified as Joginder of Rohat village and is reported to have confessed to have committed the crime.

Students block traffic in protest against fee hike
Ghaziabad, November 13
The law students of MMH College, Ghaziabad, today took out a procession and held up the traffic, in protest against the recent fee hike. After a meeting with the students, the District Magistrate, Mr Santosh Kumar Yadav, asked them to deposit the fees for the current year and promised to write to the government recommending reduction in the fee hike for the ensuing years.
