Thousands of the passengers of the Delhi-bound, Jammu-New Delhi superfast Shatabdi Express had a narrow escape when a goods train went off the track on the Panipat-Delhi section of Northern Railways near Samalkha town this morning.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced its second list of 22 candidates for the December 1 Assembly election in NCT of Delhi. Delhi Pradesh BJP president Madan Lal Khurana told media persons that the party would announce its candidates for the remaining nine seats ‘in a day or two’.

A case of fraud committed allegedly by the Greater Noida officials has come to light. A Delhi resident has filed the case in Kasna police station against the Greater Noida administration, alleging that during 2001, some officials had transferred a plot allotted to him in the name of an IAS officer and he was allotted another plot in its place.

Former Delhi State soccer player Mohd. Yaqub died in New Delhi on Saturday after a prolonged illness. He was 63 years old, and is survived by his wife, five daughters and two sons. Yaqub joined the City Club in 1963 and was a registered player of the club till the very end.
