Noida, November 7
As per a time-bound plan, Delhi Metro trains should start running between Barakhamba Road, Delhi, and Noida by 2011. Later, the Metro corridor is to be extended to Greater Noida.

BJP refuses to part with Tilak Nagar
New Delhi, November 7
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has said the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will contest only those four seats the names of which have been announced. Unable to concede the SAD’s demand for contesting the Tilak Nagar constituency, it said the decision to leave four seats for the December 1 Assembly election was final.

Bank robbery bid foiled; two held after encounter
New Delhi, November 7
The South district police today claimed to have arrested two motor cycle-borne criminals from Govindpuri after an encounter this morning. The incident occurred opposite Kangra Co-operative Bank where the suspects went to commit a bank robbery. However, nobody was injured in the exchange.

Body in suitcase: Hotel whodunnit cracked
New Delhi, November 7
With the arrest of a youth, the Central district police today claimed to have worked out a murder case of a young woman whose decomposed body was recovered from Hotel Shiv Dev International in Nabi Karim in July.

Clash between marriage parties, groom assaulted
Sonepat:
At least seven persons, including the bridegroom, were injured in a clash between members of the marriage party and the bride’s side at Robhra village, about 20 km from here, last night.

HC refuses to reschedule polls after Ramzan
New Delhi, November 7
The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to reschedule the Assembly election in the Capital after the holy month of Ramzan on the ground that the poll notification has already been announced.

Live cartridges found in box used by Army

Even as panic gripped the district following the recovery of about 170 live cartridges from the fields of Kurad village yesterday, the police have registered a case under the Arms Act against unidentified persons.

Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh faith, was born in 1469 in a village named Talwandi, which later became famous as Nankana Sahib. It is located in Pakistan after Partition. Minor with stolen Maruti car arrested
New Delhi, November 7
The New Delhi district police today arrested a minor boy and seized a Maruti car from his possession that was stolen from Paschim Vihar last evening. However, his accomplice managed to escape from the spot.

BSNL unearths bogus mobile subscribers
Sonepat, November 7
The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has unearthed a racket in which subscribers had reportedly sought mobile phone connections from the Nigam after producing fake ration cards and telephone numbers of other subscribers.

Heart check-up camp
Noida:
The Kailash Hospital, Noida, organised a three-day free heart check up camp from today in the hospital premises in Sector-27. The free heart check up camp will continue till November 9. The aim of the camp is to spread awareness about general health and heart disease among the public.

Cancer awareness and detection camp for women held 
New Delhi, November 7
The National Cancer Care Foundation organised a cancer awareness and detection camp for women in association with the Pathnet India Pvt. Ltd. at the military unit in Anand Parbat here today. The camp was inaugurated by Maj-Gen. Thomas Mathew, GOC, Delhi Area. One hundred and fifty women from both within and outside the army camp underwent screening.

Kapil opens cricket academy

Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev inaugurated the Dronacharya Cricket Academy on the Delhi Public School (Ghaziabad) premises on Thursday. The chief coach of the academy will be former national coach Gurcharan Singh.
