Heart check-up camp

Noida: The Kailash Hospital, Noida, organised a three-day free heart check up camp from today in the hospital premises in Sector-27. The free heart check up camp will continue till November 9. The aim of the camp is to spread awareness about general health and heart disease among the public.

According to its chairman, Dr Mahesh Sharma, Dr D. S. Gambhir, Dr Anil Mattoo, Dr S K Aggarwal, Dr Suresh V Samard, Dr R Rehman and Dr Prashant Vaidyanath will be present to examine and advice the people accordingly.

The camp will be conducted from 9 am to 6 pm daily. Facilities like ECG, colour doppler and Echo Cardiagraph of patients will be provided free of cost during the camp. Psychologist Dr Rajkumar will also be at hand to advice heart patients about the effect of factors like stress and strain of modern lifestyle.

Cancer awareness and detection camp
for women held

New Delhi, November 7
The National Cancer Care Foundation organised a cancer awareness and detection camp for women in association with the Pathnet India Pvt. Ltd. at the military unit in Anand Parbat here today. The camp was inaugurated by Maj-Gen. Thomas Mathew, GOC, Delhi Area. One hundred and fifty women from both within and outside the army camp underwent screening.

A cancer awareness campaign by way of distributing vernacular cancer awareness literature, extensive consultation and awareness talks on cervical and breast cancer and coordination of diagnostics and treatment of positive cases detected during the camp was part of the health drive.

The reports will be made available to the participants and proper follow up for the cases detected positive has been planned by the National Cancer Care Foundation. It was also pointed out during the camp that to detect the disease early, awareness about its symptoms and treatment were required.

25 sports persons to be honoured

Jhajjar, November 7
The Haryana Government has decided to honour about 25 sports persons of this district, who had made remarkable achievement in sports at national level or all India inter-university level sports competitions.

According to the official information, the Sports and Youth Welfare department would give cash prizes to those persons who get first, second or third positions in their events at a state level function to be held in Jind on November 12 and 13.

These sports persons are Sandeep and Ajay of Sarai Orangabad village, Meena Chhikara and Amit Sharma of Bahadur Garh, Umesh Toon of Lowa Khurd, Renu Toon of Moona Majra. Eight football players hailing from Noona Majra village of the district, which is termed as the nursery of football, would also be honoured in the function. These are Suman, Varsha, Anju, Pooja, Switi, Suman, Poonam, all girls and Shri Krishan.

Three wrestlers Sandeep of Mandothi village, Budh Singh of Bahadurgarh and Rambir of Chhara village would also be honoured with cash prizes.

Kapil opens cricket academy

Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev inaugurated the Dronacharya Cricket Academy on the Delhi Public School (Ghaziabad) premises on Thursday. The chief coach of the academy will be former national coach Gurcharan Singh. Principal of the school Rita Kapur said with the inauguration of the academy, the vast ground of the school could be utilised to train the sporting talent of the school.

She said the school has a strength of 2700 students, and even if a fraction of the students opt for cricket coaching, the purpose of setting up the academy would have been fulfilled.

Gurcharan Singh said the academy will have two cement pitches and three turf pitches for conducting matches.

He said four more pitches would be added for training purposes. Gurcharan Singh will be assisted by two qualified coaches—Dilip Upadhyaya and Manoj Kumar.

Hardeep hits century for Daryaganj

New Delhi: A dashing unbeaten century by Hardeep Singh (141, 15x4, 3x6) helped Daryaganj defeat Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) by seven wickets in the DDCA A-I Division League at the Yamuna Sports Complex ground.

Scores: CWC: 210 for 6 in 40 overs (Lalit Yadav 85, Harpreet Singh 30, Kapil Mehta 3 for 30). Daryaganj: 211 for 3 in 28 overs (Hardeep Singh 141 n o, Gaurav Malhotra 35, Naresh Khanna 1 for 17).

In the second match, Pioneer Club beat Roop Nagar by five wickets in an A-II Division. Scores: Roop Nagar: 104 all out in 38.2 overs (Kunal Nagpal 29, Ashok Lamba 5 for 23, Surender Kumar 2 for 13). Pioneer: 106 for 5 in 21.3 overs (Umesh Sharma 29 n o, C K Sharma 2 for 16).

Bookers beat B L Kashyap

E Bookers beat B L Kashyap by six wickets in the Turf Twenty20 Cup Cricket Tournament. This was E Bookers’ third victory. Scores: B L Kashyap: 106 for 5 in 20 overs (Vikram Kashyap 35, Puneet Kashyap 33, Avtar Singh 1 for 14). E Bookers: 107 for 4 in 19 overs (Pankaj Matta 44, Gaurav Arora 22, Raghubir Krishali 2 for 20, Puneet Kashyap 1 for 20).

Don Bosco, Shri Ram enter final

Don Bosco School defeated Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj 53-24 and Sri Ram School defeated Chinmaya Vidyalaya 49-35 to enter the final of the first Gyan Bharati Inter-School Basketball Tournament at the Gyan Bharati School court.

In the girls section, Shri Ram School crushed DPS, Vasant Kunj 36-16 and entered the final. They will take on Gyan Bharati in the final. OSR

Sumit Rana bowls Hansraj to victory

A devastating bowling display by Sumit Rana, who claimed six wickets for 20 runs off eight overs, enabled Hansraj College defeat Netaji Subhash Chandra Institute of Technology (NSIT) by nine wickets in the Inter-College Cricket Tournament at the Hindu College ground.

Scores: NSIT: 48 in 16.1 overs (Sumit Rana 6 for 20).

Hansraj College: 49 for 1 in 4.3 overs (Sumit Rana 21 n o).

Zakir Hussain College beat Aurobindo College (Evening) by eight wickets at the Khalsa College ground.

Scores: Aurobindo College: 121 in 34.3 overs (Khajhu 38, Rohit Kumar 3 for 17, Wasim Raza 3 for 26, Bhupinder 2 for 17).

Zakir Hussain: 122 for 2 in 18.5 overs (Bhupinder 48 n o).

Ram Lal Anand College beat Satyawati by eight wickets.

Scores: Satyawati: 115 in 35.4 overs (Shashi Kant 3 for 13, Gaurabh Gambhir 2 for 29, Naveen 2 for 27). Ram Lal Anand: 118 for 2 in 32.3 overs (Mayank Sethi 57 n o, Shakti 37).
