New Delhi, October 17
In a unique initiative to foster corporate social responsibility, automobile giants Mahindra & Mahindra have come forward to hold a traffic safety workshop, in association with the Delhi Traffic Police, for the school students.

The drive was launched at M & M’s dealership at Rama Road in West Delhi where around 50 students from class XI (boys and girls) of New Era Public School, Mayapuri took part in a special workshop-cum-demonstration for traffic awareness.

A team of Delhi Traffic Police Officials interacted with the students during the two-hour session which began at 9.30 am. The students were given an insight into the automobile industry during their tour of the entire workstation.

Auto experts held the students in rapt attention as they gave a detailed explanation of an automobile’s functioning. Details about automobiles components like a gear box, chassis etc were explained to the children. They were also encouraged to ask questions about traffic signals, and other rules and regulations related to traffic safety.

The students assembled later for lecture and presentation session by the Delhi Police on traffic rules and safety.

But it was the innovative quiz based on the workshop that was the high point of the entire exercise. Students were asked questions pertaining to the traffic rules and regulations and they were awarded on-the-sport gifts and freebies by the M&M team. The students were also given kits by the M&M team containing information on the rules and regulations of traffic.

The pupils also enjoyed the refreshments offered to them before they left the venue, fully satisfied with information and entertainment.

Said Mr Neeraj Saroj, DGM, Northern Region, M&M Automotive Division: “It is the need of the hour to train our children to understand and observe traffic safety. We are happy to be part of this initiative that is being backed by the Delhi Traffic Police.”
