I-Day celebrations at schools Ludhiana, August 16 The flag was unfurled by the chief guest. Various cultural activities were presented by children. The Rotary Club Ludhiana North celebrated the day with inmates of Government Institute for the Blind, Jamalpur, yesterday. The National Flag was unfurled by president Rtn S.P. Singh Dua. More than 100 inmates of the institute, including students and more than 20 rotarians, attended the function. Sweets, fruits and biscuits were distributed among inmates of the institute. Ten blind students took part in a cultural programme. Ramji, a student of Class X, delivered an impressive speech. He was presented a tape recorder. Besides, a sum of Rs 1,500 was given to the institute for providing Braille watch, cricket material etc. to the needy students. Mr Raj Lamba, former welfare officer, and Mr Narinderjit Singh Pannu, Superintendent of the institute, were given awards by the club in recognition of their services for the institute. The day was celebrated by students of the Malwa Central College of Education for Women with enthusiasm and fervour. Students discussed the status of independence in the present scenario. The contributions of great martyrs was depicted through a skit. The function concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. |
