PSEB detects 100 cases of power theft
SAS Nagar, July 26
In one of the largest drives undertaken on a single day, a team of the Punjab State Electricity Board, Mohali circle, conducted raids on various places in the city periphery today to check the theft of power and collected Rs 2.75 lakh as penalty. Over 100 cases of power theft in various forms were detected during these raids.

PUDA notices to 266 property owners
Residents plan to move court
SAS Nagar, July 26
At least 266 house owners here stand to lose their properties worth crores of rupees to the Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority for no apparent fault of theirs. PUDA has issued show cause notices to the owners of 266 residential houses and asked them to explain why the occupation certificates, issued to them by PUDA, should not be cancelled.

A local computer trader has allegedly duped many computer hardware dealers of millions of rupees. A complaint has been lodged at the public window system of the UT police against him by the Association of Computer Traders and Professionals yesterday.

Panjab varsity asks UT to reverse fee hike

Panjab University syndicate has asked the UT Administration to reverse the fee hike for the university and the local affiliated colleges announced recently. The issue sprung up in wake of the Punjab Government announcing a complete rollback on the proposed rates recently.

Girl raped
Chandigarh, July 26
An unmarried girl in her mid-twenties from Gurdaspur district doing a professional course in the city was allegedly raped by a youth from her home district, late last night.

Body recovered from well
Panchkula, July 26
The body of a 60-year-old woman, resident of Naddha village near here, was recovered from a well in the village this afternoon. The victim, Chinto Devi, was reportedly suffering from depression and was missing since yesterday.
