Ludhiana, June 22
An innings of 84 runs by Atul Kohli and a valuable contribution of 39 runs by Puneet enabled the Charanjit Singh Ahluwalia XI to register a convincing 52-run victory over Anil Bharti XI and lift the trophy in the seventh Chaman Lal Malhotra Cricket Cup Tournament (under-15) organised by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association (LDCA) at the Arya College for Boys ground here today.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Charanjit Singh Ahluwalia XI scored a challenging total of 204 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their quota of 35 overs. Chasing a target of 205 runs, Anil Bharti XI batsmen started well and at one time they were placed comfortably at 123 for four after 23 overs. The Anil Bharti XI’s innings folded at 152 runs at the second last delivery of the match. Ankit remained unbeaten on 66.

Two brothers, Bharat Malhotra and Lalit Malhotra, students of the local Kundan Vidya Mandir School, Civil Lines, representing Charanjit Singh Ahluwalia XI, were adjudged ‘player of the tournament’ and the ‘best all-rounder’, respectively.
