Three of family shot dead during mourning
Meerut, June 7
Three members of Dr Nasiruddin’s family, which was mourning the death of his grandmother, were shot dead and six others injured in a shootout in Bani Sarai Mohalla under the Katwal police station today at 1 pm. The assailants were brothers and relatives of Dr Nasiruddin. All the nine seriously injured persons were rushed to a private nursing home where Dr Nasiruddin, his son Prince and his nephew Guddu were declared brought dead.

Maid nabbed; GK murder solved
New Delhi, June 7
With the arrest of the maid, the Delhi Police today claimed to have worked out the murder of an old woman in the posh Greater Kailash area in South Delhi. The maid, Gauri Jena, was arrested this morning from a jhuggi cluster in Govindpuri. She hails from Orissa and had worked with the victim, Mrs Meena, for sometime. She allegedly committed the murder in Mrs Meena’s house in Greater Kailash on May 31 when the victim was alone.

JD(U) puts govt on the mat for warrants against farmers

The issuance of warrants against a large number of defaulting farmers of Rewari, Mahendragarh, Gurgaon, Jhajjar and Bhiwani districts as well as the Mewat region under Section 104 (C) of the Cooperative Act by the Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Haryana, has come in for sharp criticism from the Haryana Janata Dal (U) president, Mr Ved Prakash Vidrohi.

Shops gutted in Yusuf Sarai
New Delhi, June 7
Goods worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in a fire that broke out in seven shops in Yusuf Sarai market in south Delhi early this morning. The shops were in temporary sheds allotted to Kashmiri migrants. Four fire fighters were rushed by the Delhi Fire Service, which doused the fire within one hour.

The Delhi Police today claimed to have seized 22 antique articles worth several lakhs of rupees from a house in the Jangpura area and arrested one person in this connection.

Mr B. S. Rawat, Additional Sessions Judge of the Fast Track Court yesterday convicted an accused, Rajbir of Dubheta village, under Section 376 IPC and sentenced him to seven years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5,000.
