DC asks Irrigation Dept to intensify patrolling
Our Correspondent

Rohtak, June 3
With a view to checking the theft of irrigation water and to ensure that the canal water reached tail-end villages, the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Ashok Yadav, has directed the officials of Irrigation Department to carry out patrolling along the canals.

After hearing the complaints of the residents of Asan village regarding acute scarcity of irrigation water today, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officials of the Health Department to take immediate measures to mitigate the shortage.

The villagers had complained that some miscreants had breached the Asan minor near Rurki village, which had caused an acute scarcity of water for irrigation as well as cattle. They said all ponds in the village had dried up, thus creating problems for them. Mr Yadav assured the villagers that he would visit the village tomorrow and said the problem would soon be redressed.

The residents of Kheri Sampla village also met the DC today and complained about the shortage of piped water. The Public Health authorities argued that the problem arose due to unauthorised connections taken by a large number of residents.
