Demonstration on latest dental techniques

The Institute of Career Designing in Dentistry, Ludhiana (ICDD), held a hands-on course in endodontics “Preparing root canals: hands or handpieces” on Sunday at Hotel Baron.

The faculty of the course was Dr Vimal Sikri, an eminent endodontist from Government Dental College and Hospital, Amritsar. The course dealt with the latest techniques and instruments used in treating the diseased pulp of the tooth. The faculty laid stress on usage of latest rotary instruments attached to various handpieces rather than traditional hand-used instruments in preparing the root canals for the treatment.

Sixtyfive delegates were given demonstration in latest techniques and instruments used in this procedure. In the second phase the delegates underwent rigorous training in performing root canal preparation on the extracted teeth using the rotary instruments under the guidance of the faculty. The instruments and infrastructure for the course was sponsored by Heraeus Kulzer Dental India Pvt Ltd. On the successful completion of the course all delegates received certificates of attendance from ICDD and Heraeus Kulzer.

Colgate Palmolive (India) Ltd was co-sponsor of the course. Dr Vimal Sikri was honoured by Dr Bhagwant Singh, Dr J.S. Judge, Dr Gajinder Singh and Dr J.S. Kharbanda, directors of the institute.

IT officers shifted

Ludhiana, June 3
More than 10 senior officers of the Income Tax Department, including the Additional Commissioners and the Joint Commissioners, have been transferred here. The transfer orders were issued by Mr Sudhakar Verma, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ludhiana. These transfers and postings have been made after the recent unearthing of transfer scam of income tax department officers under which the Personal Assistant of the Union Minister of State for Finance, Mr G. Ramchandra, was arrested for allegedly accepting bribe along with one chartered accountant of Chennai.

The Finance Minister, Mr Jaswant Singh, had cancelled all those transfers and postings which were mainly of the officers pertaining to the investigation wing of the Income Tax Department.

Following transfers and postings of Additional Commissioners and Joint Commissioners have been ordered: Mr Aparna Karan from range II Jalandhar to range 1 Jalandhar; Renuka Jain Gupta to range II Jalandhar; Mr Sanjukumar Chauhan to Hoshiarpur range; Mr A.K. Tripathi to range III Jalandhar; Mr Rakesh Gupta — to Phagwara range; Mr Vinay Karan — from range VI Ludhiana to range IV Jalandhar; Mr K.B. Shukla to range I Ludhiana; Mr Anadi Verma from range III Ludhiana to range II Ludhiana; Mr Rakesh Suri — from range III Jalandhar to range IV Ludhiana; Mr R.N. Parbat from range II to range VI Ludhiana; Dr Balwan — to range VII Ludhiana; and Mr Jayant Kumar to Moga range. Mr R.N. Parbat will hold the additional charge of Moga till Mr Jayant Kumar joins his duties.

The following income tax officers have transferred and they would be relieved by June 4: Mr Ravinder Mittal transferred from Chief Commissioner Income Tax office to Commissioner Income tax III Ludhiana; Mr B.P. Aggarwal from Commissioner Income Tax (CIT) III to office of Chief Commissioner IT Ludhiana; Mr M.L. Verma from CIT I Ludhiana to CIT I Jalandhar; Mr S.C. Arora CIT I Jalandhar to CIT II Jalandhar; Mr G.R. Madan from CIT I Jalandhar to CIT II Jalandhar; and Mr G.L. Dhall from CIT II Jalandhar to CIT-I Jalandhar.
