RWA flouting rules to build wall; probe
ordered Noida, April 25 A high wall is being constructed on one side of the side of the drain in Sector 17 by the RWA without taking any permission from the Noida Authority or the district administration. Both Noida Authority and the DM’s Office have expressed ignorance about the wall. When a complaint was lodged with the Noida Authority and the district administration a high-level inquiry into the whole matter was ordered. Mr Yudhishtar Sharma, Chairman of the Neighbourhood Committee, and the Secretary, Dr Amit Gupta, told NCR Tribune the office-bearers of the other association were bent upon harassing the residents by their high-handed actions. They were collecting Rs 400 a month from each house. Those from outside the sector were charged a rent of Rs 15,000 a day for using the sector park for parties whereas the right to charge rent rested with the Noida Authority only. They had also permitted people to put up kiosks, again for a price, Mr Sharma alleged. The RWA had surrounded the residents of the sector with iron gates to “teach them a lesson”, which was against the verdict of the apex court, Mr Sharma said. The gates were normally kept locked to inconvenience the residents. Children were forbidden to play in the parks but nobody bothered when parks were extensively damaged by the parties and wedding receptions being held there. The RWA was misusing its powers. It had even misused a Rajya Sabha member’s special grant for their activities. It was alleged the work of raising the wall was given to the UP Rural Engineering Services Department on April 20, while in Noida all such development works are to be executed by the Noida Authority. The Noida Authority officials, when apprised of the construction of an illegal wall by the RWA, inspected the site and stopped the work. The District Magistrate has ordered the Chief Development Officer, Gautam Budh Nagar, to probe the matter. |
Computerised facility for driving
licences Sonepat, April 25 The computerised system has started functioning and the first and second driving licences were issued to the Commissioner of Rohtak Division, Mr. R. R. Bainswal, and the Deputy Commissioner of Sonepat, Mr Balwant Singh, at a function. It is alleged that both the licences were issued without any formality. The commissioner already has two driving licences and this is the third one. Generally, the new driving licence is issued when the old one is lost and the holder is required to lodge an FIR with the police. The commissioner hoped that the applicants would benefit from the new computerised facility and they would not have to wait for months for seeking driving licences from the Licensing Authority. |
