Ludhiana, April 25
The three-day match of the Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Championship (under 15 category) between Ludhiana and Jalandhar which concluded at the Burlton Park ground of Jalandhar ended in a draw today. However, Jalandhar, on the basis of their first innings lead of 99 runs, earned five points while Ludhiana had to content with three points.

Today, in their second essay, Ludhiana were 158 for two after 70 overs when the match was called off. Bharat Malhotra, student of local Kundan Vidya Mandir School missed the ton by just one run while Atul Kohli scored 45 runs.

Brief scores: Ludhiana (Ist innings)- 224 for 9 in 90 overs (Bharat Malhotra 67, Sushyant Kohli 32, Pankaj Kumar 35, Mohit 15 and Mukul Gupta 10, Sukhpreet 3 for 42 and Varun 2 for 27)

Jalandhar (Ist innings)- 323 for 8 in 90 overs (Pawan Sarang 104, Asim Tuli 52, Sandeep Gupta 36, Robin Singh 34, Vikul Sodhi 37, Mukul Gupta 4 for 63, Nakul 2 for 60 and Vishal Passi 1 for 28)

Ludhiana (2nd innings) 158 for 2 in 70 overs ( Bharat Malhotra 99, Atul Kohli 45, Varun 1 for 37 and Asim Tuli 1 for 41).

Ludhiana, will now play their next match here at the S D Government College for Boys ground against Minor District XI (zone-B) from April 27 to 29. 

Order on school vehicles

Ludhiana, April 25
The District Magistrate, Mr Anurag Aggarwal, has passed orders refraining all vehicles owned or engaged by schools under an agreement from carrying schoolchildren in excess than 1.5 times of their normal seating capacity. He said it had come to his notice that many buses, mini buses, vans, jeeps and auto-rickshaws meant for plying school children were loaded beyond the permissible limits, thus endangering the safety of children.
