Ravneet Rickey hits century for IA

New Delhi, March 21
A dashing unbeaten knock of 136 by Ravneet Rickey and an unbeaten 62 by Ishan Ganda helped Indian Airlines trounce Collage Sports Management XI by nine wickets and entered the final of the fourth Roshanara Cricket Tournament at the Roshanara Club ground on Friday. Indian Airlines will take on Oil and Natural Gas Commission in the final on Monday.

Collage Sports Management won the toss and opted to bat. But Indian Airlines medium-pacers R P Singh and Rajat Bhatia bowled well to restrict Collage Sports to a modest total of 209 in 50 overs. In reply, Indian Airlines raced to the required target with the help of the blazing knocks of Rickey, whose 136 came off 128 balls with three sixes and 18 fours, while Ishan Ganda’s 62 came off 89 balls with six fours. Rickey and Ganda put on an unbeaten 180 runs for the second wicket. Ravneet Rickey was adjudged the man of the match.

Scores: Collage Sports: 209in 50 overs (Sanjeev Sharma 47, Pankaj Joshi 38, Varun Kumar 29, R P Singh 2 for 22, Rajat Bhatia 2 for 38, Sonu Sharma 2 for 49).

Youngsters down South Delhi

New Delhi, March 21
A fine all-round performance by Jitender Solanki (3 for 24 and 40) and deadly bowling by off-spinner Savit Chaudhary (4 for 28) helped Youngsters Club beat South Delhi by six wickets in a Super A Division match of the DDCA League at the Kotla No I ground.

Scores: South Delhi: 96 all out in 31.2 overs (Anuj Kumar 18, Narender Kumar 18, Savit Chaudhary 4 for 28, Jitender Solanki 3 for 24). Youngsters: 97 for 4 in 17.1 overs

Raman slams century

A strokeful century knock of 103 by Raman and a four-wicket haul by Vidur Chowdhary enabled Alitalia beat G E Capital in a league match of the Turf Corporate Cricket Challenge. Raman was named the man of the match. Scores: G E Capital: 228 all out in 25 overs Alitalia: 232 for 5 in 24.4 overs

NIIT beat Spectramind

NIIT defeated Spectramind by five wickets in the Reebok Cricket Tournament.

Sahara cancels trip to SA

New Delhi, March 21
Sahara India, the main sponsor of the Indian cricket team, has cancelled its decision to take a planeload of VVIPs to witness the World Cup final between India and Australia to be played in South Africa on Sunday due to the US military intervention in Iraq, as the Sahara aircraft refuelling point at D’Jibouti falls in the war zone.

Meanwhile, Sahara India Pariwar has promised to provide “seven-star deluxe suite apartments worth over Rs 23 crore to the Indian cricket team on winning the World Cup,” at the “World Champions Enclave” at Amby Valley, Sahara Lake City.

BSES enter cricket final

Half centuries by Ajeet Chaudhary and Manoj Kumar and a deadly spell of 4 for 24 by Amrit Lal helped BSES Rajdhani Yamuna Power Limited beat Maccann by eight wickets and entered the final of the ESPN Star Sports Cricket Tournament at the Bhagat Singh College ground. Scores: Maccann: 152 all out in 24.5 overs. BSES: 156 for 2 in 22.1 overs.
