Harpreet, Gagandeep best athletes

Harpreet Kaur of the M.Ed course and Gagandeep Kaur of the B.Ed course were declared the best athletes in the two-day athletics meet of the Malwa Central College of Education for Women here today. In the annual meet, more than 250 students of the college took part in track-and-field and fun events.

Results: 200 m — Harpreet Kaur 1, Amandeep Kaur 2, Jasbir Kaur 3; 50 m spoon-and-potato race — Kirana Rani 1, Gagandeep Kaur 2, Monita Kalra 3; shot put — Gagandeep Kaur 1, Sandeep 2, Ritinder Pal Kaur 3; 400 m — Mandeep Bal 1, Manvinder Kaur 2, Amandeep Kaur 3; high jump — Manvinder Kaur 1, DeepKamal 2, Narmeet Kaur 3; javelin throw — Gagandeep Kaur 1, Jasbir Kaur 2, Sandeep 3.

Long jump — Harpreet Kaur 1, Gurpreet Kaur 2, Sandeep 3; 4x100 m relay race — Amandeep Kaur , Purnima, Anjali and Sunita 1, Amanpreet, Seema, Jasbir and Raman 2, Pawan, Shikha, Jatinder Kaur and Manvinder 3.

Discus throw — Gagandeep Kaur 1, Ritinder Pal Kaur 2, Sandeep 3; 800 m — Manvinder 1, Amandeep 2, Ekta 3; sack race — Poonam Rani 1, Pardeep Kaur 2, Kirana Rani 3.

Skipping — Harminder Kaur 1, Daman 2, Amanpreet 3; three legged race — Gagandeep and Ritinder 1, Harjinder and Devinder Kaur 2, Kawalpreet and Gurmeet 3; chatti race — Kuljit Kaur 1, Ekta Sharma 2, Kuldeep Kaur 3.

Meet concludes

The annual sports meet of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana, concluded today. Mr Tara Singh, Arjuna Awardee and winner of a number of Asian games and commonwealth medals in weightlifting, presided over the meet. He also gave away prizes to the winners.

Mr Tara Singh was presented a memento on behalf of the Khalsa Educational Council (GRW), Ludhiana, by Mr Harmohinder Singh, Joint Secretary. Mr Hardeep Singh, international weightlifter, was also felicitated.

The following are the results: best athlete of the college — Mukhinder Singh Gill (BA-II); best athlete of pharmacy — Princejit Singh; and best athlete of evening shift — Jagdeep Singh (BA-III).
