PIMT fest today

Mandi Gobindgarh, February 26
The Punjab Institute of Management and Technology (PIMT) will organise the ‘PIMT Hero Honda Aaftab 2003’ festival tomorrow. The festival of cultural, literary and management events, which began as an intra-college function, has grown into an inter-college event.

About 20 professional institutes of the region are expected to participate in this one-day festival. The event will include 14 competitions. Dr O.P. Sahni, Director PIMT, said here today that Mr O.P. Munjal, chairman and CEO of Hero Cycles, would inaugurate the festival, while Mr D.L. Sharma, president of the Vardhman group, would give away the prizes. OC

Tributes paid to Sahir Ludhianvi

Ludhiana, February 26
Rich tributes were paid to Ludhiana’s most popular poet Sahir Ludhianvi at a function titled “Dhavani organised yesterday at Punjabi Bhavan.
Participants recited ‘Sahir’s poetry. Chaman Lal Chaman, a renowned literary figure from the USA, was the guest of honour.

Mr Randhir Kanwal, organiser of the show, said the poetry of Sahir had a distinct place in the hearts of Ludhianvis. The timeless nazams and gazals written by him were all-time favourites. The programme started with a famous Sahir’s song “Tora man darpan kahlaye” sung by Rakhi Kanwal.

Mr Gulzar Atwal, Dr Kewal Dheer, Prof M.S. Cheema and Mr N.S. Nanda attended the function.
