MCM college athletics meet begins

Chandigarh, February 26
The annual athletics meet of the local MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36, began, today. Manju Hooda of BA part III got the first prize in 200-metre event while Sharda of the same class and Sudha of BA part I got the second and third positions respectively in the event. Sharda also won the high jump event while Surabhi got the second position, Najru was third while Arshdeep secured the fourth place. Arshdeep of BA part III emerged winner in the long jump event, with Puneeta bagging the second position and Sharda in the third place. In slow cycling, Shivam of BA part III was first, Prabhleen of B.Sc. part II was second and while Devika of BA part II was third. In the events for staff members, Neena won the top position, followed by Rama and Anu. In the event for peons, Ram Suresh secured the first position, while Ram Kumar was second and Ram Pher third.
GCG-11 athletic meetDaljit Kaur of BA part II was adjudged the best athlete on the concluding day of the 47th annual athletic meet of the Government College for Girls, Sector 11, held today. Flying Sikh Milkha Singh was the chief guest. Daljit Kaur bagged the first position in 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres and long jump and the second place in high jump. Rishwant Kaur of BA part III won the shot-put event and was runner-up in discuss-throw and javelin-throw events. Other events like, three-legged race, skipping race, yoga and aerobics were also held. The students of the commerce department were adjudged the best marching contingent in Group A and those of B.Sc. second year in Group B. The contingent of BA part I was declared overall second. Earlier, the Principal of the college, Ms Usha Khetrapal, welcomed the chief guest and highlighted the sports achievements of the college.

Athletic meetMore than 20 students of Government College here were given prizes on the last day of the of the two day athletic meet of the college here today. The prizes were given away by the chief guest Mr Haracharan Singh Bhullar, Superintendent of Police, SAS Nagar. Principal T.S. Sohi welcomed the Chief Guest on the occasion and read out the annual sports report of the college. Among those who won prizes included Deepti, Rekha, Sukhpreet, Karam Singh, Avtar Singh, Manvinder Singh, Surinder, Manisha, Lakhvir Singh, Shalinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, Vandana, Karamjit, Lalita Rani, Gopal Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Jasdeep Dhiman, Aniljit, Sonu Shukla, Gurpreet, Rajbir, Gurinder, Jatinder Singh, Harmanjit Singh, Harpreet Singh, Aniljit Mangat, Pushpinder, Jyoti, Gagandeep, Rakesh Kumar, Sukhdev, Ranjeet Singh, Rajiv Kumar and Lakhvir Singh.
