Jamia, DAV College sail into semis New Delhi, February 18 In the semi-finals on Wednesday, St Joseph’s College, Bangalore will take on Brijindra College, Faridkot at 1 pm while Jamia Millia will clash against DAV College at 3 pm. In a one-sided match, Jamia Millia opened their scoring in the 12th minute when Deepak Kumar converted a penalty stroke while the second goal came 18 minutes later when Deepak Kumar himself found the mark, converting a penalty corner. Sanjeet Kumar scored the third goal three minutes later to complete the first half scoring. On resumption, Prabhakar Singh scored the fourth and sixth goals while Jitender Saroha scored off a penalty corner to get the fifth goal. DAV College had to struggle for 18 minutes to score the first goal through Amarjit Singh. The second goal came only in the 30th minute when Yadwinder Singh hit home a field goal. In the second session, the Jalandhar College, however, were on a roll as they added five more goals through Damandeep Singh (third and seventh), Navpreet Singh and Ravi Pal. Bansal presented mementoes to the winning team, their coach Radhey Shyam Sharma and manager Davinder Chaudhary. Mayank Sidana hits unbeaten ton in U-17 tourney New Delhi, February 18 Mount St Marry’s, batting first, scored 183 all out in 50.2 overs. Modern School replied with 222 for 1 in 40 overs. The second day’s play was washed out due to rain, and the organisers declared Modern School as the
winners.

Scindia Polo from today New Delhi, February 18 The teams are: Hyundai Sonata, McDowell’s Signature, Teachers, Jindal Steel and Power, Aravali Polo, Sehgal Stud, Royal Kashmir, Zara, Army Tag Heuer and Indian Army. In 1997, Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia of Gwalior presented a gold cup to the Polo Club to start a tournament in honour of Maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia of Gwalior, an avid polo player and patron of the game. Over the years, the tournament has carved out a special niche for itself among polo tournaments.
Mohan Sharma shines with bat A strokeful knock of 73, studded with two sixes and 14 boundaries, enabled the Jawaharlal Nehru Trust XI beat New Zealand High Commission by nine wickets in a league match of the Commonwealth Cricket Tournament at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium ground. New Zealand High Commission won the toss and elected to bat. Montu scored 29 with six fours off 23 balls while Nikku scored 20 with one six and three fours. For Jawaharlal Nehru Trust, Mohan Sharma and Sunil Narula scored 73 and 27 not out respectively. They put on 113 runs for the opening wicket, off 37 balls. Skipper Vikram Kaul slammed a quickfire unbeaten 21 which contained two sixes and two fours. Mohan Sharma was adjudged the Man of the Match.
