They were largely below normal in western Uttar Pradesh, markedly below normal in Haryana, Punjab, eastern Rajasthan and eastern Uttar Pradesh, below normal in Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 0.4°C recorded at Pilani in Rajasthan. Forecast valid until January 18: Rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
