Rajiv shines in Khalsa win

Rajiv Uniyal hit a strokeful unbeaten 78, studded with nine fours off 106 balls, to help Khalsa College edge past Rajdhani Sports by two runs and entered the semi-final of the seventh Sahibzada Ajit Singh Cricket Tournament at the Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce ground at Pitampura. Rjiv Uniyal was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Electing to bat Khalsa College made 159 for 9 32 overs.

Scores: Khalsa College: 159 for 9 in 32 overs (Rajiv Uniyal 78 n o, Lalit Anand 2 for 15, Rajesh Chandra 2 for 35).

Rajdhani Sports: 157 all out in 32 overs (Dhamanjit 33, Kesar Chaudhary 38, Pramod Bhati 29, Tony Singh 3 for 28, Rajinder Bisht 2 for 20).

Ravindra in semis

Delhi Under-15 player Virat Kohli hit an unbeaten 67 and Pankaj Sethi took three wickets for 25 runs as Ravindra Cricket Academy beat Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Trust by seven wickets and entered the semi-final of the first Rajeev Gandhi Memorial Under-17 Cricket Tournament at the Picnic Hut ground, Ashok Vihar.

Modern School, Barakhamba Road trounced Sun Rise School, Kolkata by nine wickets and entered the semi-final of the National HT-Pace Young Cricket Tournament at the National Stadium ground.

Scores: Sun Rise School: 104 all out in 26.4 overs (Devanjan 22, Avril 3 for 20, Deepak 3 for 29, Karan Harit 2 for 17).

Modern School: 108 for 1 in 13.3 overs (Aswat 59, Deepak Rajput 22).

Salwan Boys School beat St. Michaels School, Bhopal by 73 runs at the Salwan School ground.

Scores: Salwan School Boys: 210 for 3 in 30 overs (Ratan Rawat 88, Tarun Choudhary 72).

St Michaels: 137 all out in 26.4 overs (Ijajaj Aijajuddin 38, Ebrahim Shib 22, Ashutosh Sharma 3 for 26, Deepak Rai 2 for 22).

Hughes beat Modi Care

Hughes Software defeated Modi Care by eight wickets in the Champions Trophy Cricket Tournament at the Palam ground.

Scores: Modi Care: 61 all out in 19 overs (Somik 19, Srikant 21, Pen Babu 4 for 32, Rakesh 3 for 12). Hughes Software: 62 for 2 in 17.5 overs (Aswani 34 no, Rakes 19).

Friendship Cup

Siemens defeated SPCNL by 11 runs in the Friendship Cup Cricket Tournament at the DDA Sports Complex ground. Scores: Siemens: 109 for 9 in 22 overs (K S Bedi 26, Laxman 3 for 18).

SPCNL: 94 all out in 21 overs (Laxman 25, K S Bedi 4 for 25). Bedi was named the Man of the Match.

DAV lift Aryavrat cricket trophy

Abhishek Sakuja played an all-round role, scoring an unbeaten 53 and scalping three wickets for 24 runs, as DLDAV School, Shalimar Bagh defeated Young Friends Club by 19 runs and annexed the first Aryavrat Under-15 Cricket Tournament trophy at the Paschim Vihar Sports Complex ground.

Abhishek was named the Man of the Match while Ishan Bakshi earned the Best Batsman of the tournament award. Saumik Chatterjee was given the Man of the Series award.

Scores: DLDAV School, Shalimar Bagh: 238 for 9 in 40 overs (Abhishek Sakuja 53 n o, Tarun Sharma 40, Tapan Jain 40, Ishan Bakshi 3 for 8).

New Delhi Heroes beat Delhi Police

New Delhi Heroes defeated Delhi Police 1-0 in a Delhi Soccer Association (DSA)-SAIL Super League match at the Ambedkar Stadium on Thursday. Deepak scored the match-winner when he converted a penalty kick 27 minutes into the second half.

New Delhi Heroes were awarded the penalty when defender Harish handled the ball. Heroes had a number of scoring chances, but they made a hash of them till they were awarded the spot kick.

Friday’s fixture: Tarun Sangha vs Moghals (3 pm)—Ambedkar Stadium.

Bal Bhavan School win in CBSE tourney

Bal Bhavan Public School, Mayur Vihar won the third place in the Central Board of Secondary Education National Volleyball Tournament for girls Under-19 held in Chennai. Twenty-one school teams from all over the country participated in the tournament.

Bal Bhavan beat DAV Public School, Andhra Pradesh 25-18, 25-15 in the quarter-final and beat Chinar Public School, Alwar 25-18, 25-16 to take the third place.

The Bal Bhavan team were captained by A Gauri and comprised Vimmy Abbot, Tirulata, Komal Gupta, Ginny, Aditi Rungta and Mansi Yadav.

Principal of the school B. B. Gupta hailed the performance of the team, and their coaches Sukhbir and Manju.

Bechtel defeated GE Capital by four wickets in a league match of the tenth Teri Cup Cricket Tournament at the Central Secretariat ground.

Scores: G E Capital: 92 all out in 21.4 overs (Arjit Mukherjee 24, 2x4; Sushmit 5 for 7, Gagan 3 for 24).

Bechtel: 93 for 6 in 16 overs (Vaibhav 33, 3x4; Joginder 3 for 21).

NPTC defeated Teri-Haryana by 117 runs in another match at the Teri Oval.

Electing to bat, NTPC made 173 for 7 in 25 overs. While Teri-Haryana were all out 56 in 17 overs.

Mohan Meakins: 170 for 8 in 34.4 overs (Shashi Kant 32, Ashish Tomar 31, Ashwani Anand 3 fo 40, Naresh Khanna 2 for 29, Surjeet Verma 2 for 29).

Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) defeated Canara Bank by nine runs in a B Division match at Kotla II ground.

Electoral rolls of six Sonepat segments out

Sonepat, January 16
The Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer, Mr Balwan Singh Dhillon, has finally published the electoral rolls relating to the six assembly constituencies of Sonepat district.

According to a report, as many as 9,610 petitions and 191 objections were received by November 30 last year and these were disposed of after giving notices to the complainants. After the disposal of the petitions and objections, the names of 7,196 persons were deleted from the voters’ lists. The number of voters is 7,55,108 and that of service voters is 2,021. As many as 6,54,267 voters had been given photo identity cards thereby achieving the target of 86.65 per cent.

The constituency-wise number of voters and issuing of photo identity cards is as under: Baroda (Reserved) - 1,04,744 voters (95,351 photo ID cards), Gohana 1,24,528 (1,12,455), Kailana - 1,23,500 (1,10,269), Sonepat - 1,59,417 (1,24,492), Rai - 1,32,537 (1,15,921) and Rohat - 1,12,403 (95,779).

As many as 1,030 polling stations have been set up in all the six assembly constituencies and these include 854 for general category voters and 176 for the weaker sections. These polling stations would be set up in four towns, Sonepat, Ganaur, Kharkhauda and Gohana, and 345 villages in the district.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner would be the Returning Officer for the Baroda (R) assembly segment, the SDMs of Gohana and Ganaur would be the Returning Officers of Gohana and Kailana assembly segments respectively, the City Magistrate would be the Returning Officer for the Sonepat assembly segment, the District Revenue Officer and the SDM of Sonepat would be the Returning Officers of Rai and Rohat assembly constituencies respectively.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer convened a meeting of the representatives of all political parties and gave the details of the voters’ list. He appealed to them to bring to his notice any omission.
