BRS City Centre shifted

Panchkula, February 16
The City Centre of the BRS Dental College and Hospital, Kot Billa (Panchkula), became operational from SCO 41, Sector 11, Panchkula, today after being shifted from NAC Mani Majra

At a function held here, Mr Anoop Garg, Secretary, BRS Dental College, said the 60-bed hospital at the centre would have all dental and medical facilities, including dental, gynae, surgery, general medicine, paediatrics and orthopaedics OPDs.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr B.K. Chaudhary, Principal, BRS Dental College, said the dental centre was equipped with state of the art equipment.

Ranking badminton meet begins

Chandigarh, January 16
Chetan and Anil, both from Chandigarh, moved in the next round of the under-16 boys singles of the qualifying rounds of the VIIIth Tara Chand Memorial All-India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament which began here today at Sports complex, Sector 3, Panchkula.

In under-19 section, Harpreet Singh, Muralidharan and Akash Sethi sailed in the next rounds. In under-14 boys section, Mohit and Gaurav entered the next round. The main draw events will begin on January 18.

B’ball tourney

DAV College, Sector 10, overpowered the Government College for Men, Sector 10, 52-19 with half time score of 27-8 in the Chandigarh State Senior Basketball Championship held here today at Sports Complex, Sector 7. In other matches of the day, DAV School, Sector 8, defeated Sports Complex, Sector 46, 46-39 with half time score of 25-13, Shivalik Club, Sector 41, routed Coaching Centre, Sector 16, 55-17. In the last league match of the day, Athletic Club, Sector 7, outplayed Army Club, 50-27.

PUDA razes stalls

SAS Nagar, January 16
Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) officials today demolished stalls encroaching on the road near LIG houses in Phase I here today.

These stalls were encroaching on the land owned by PUDA and the action was taken based on a complaint filed by a resident of Phase I. The stalls had come up illegally on the roadside over the years and the residents of the LIG houses were facing inconvenience. A team of PUDA employees carried out the operation with the help of a JCB under the guidance of the SDO.

Less than a fortnight back the Municipal Council had also demolished some of these stalls.
