Kaithal, January 5
A large number of Sikhs from different parts of the state who assembled at Gurdwara Neem Sahib here yesterday have decided to approach the Supreme Court for the formation of a separate gurdwara parbandhak committee for Haryana.

The gathering also decided to protest against the acquittal of Sajjan Kumar in the anti-Sikh riots case of 1984 in Delhi.

Mr Avtar Singh Chakku alleged that the SGPC was discriminating against Haryana in the disbursement of grants for carrying on construction and renovation work of religious places and activities.

Sikh leader Jagdish Singh Chhinda demanded that in the next SGPC budget, at least a provision of Rs 10 crore should be made for Haryana out of which Rs 5 crore should be earmarked for Miri Piri Medical College, Shahbad, Rs 3 crore for the discretion of Sikh legislators and Rs 2 crore for the spread of religious activities in the state.

Mr Arora while commenting on the refusal of the Congress to attend the meeting said the INLD government believed in creating consensus among all political parties on all issues concerning the welfare of the people of Haryana. The court issued production warrants against these persons following the registration of criminal cases against them on account of cheating of investors, who deposited huge amounts with the company, but were awaiting refund of their deposits along with interest. The court had already issued production warrants for January 4, but the accused could not be produced in the court on Saturday due to their production in other courts on account of cases registered against them at other places.

Steps to check crime
Our Correspondent

Yamunanagar, January 5
The new Superintendent of Police, Mr Rajinder Singh, today appealed to the people of Yamunanagar district to submit a list of servants in their houses and migrant labour in their industrial complex. The list should comprise the original address of the servant and his photograph so that “if there is any case of theft, robbery or looting, then proper verification can be done.”

He said the list should be submitted to the nearest police station. The excessive crime rate in the region was because of the bordering district of Uttar Pradesh. He said the Uttar Pradesh border would be sealed immediately and all vehicles — cars, trucks, two wheelers even pedestrians— would be thoroughly checked.

Ved Parkash Sharma, a science teacher at Badala village, has registered his name proudly in the Limca Book of Records.

Fortyfive-year-old Sharma recently achieved the remarkable feat of rotating clasped hands around the body by making a moving circle with his arms and passing the body through it 54 times in a minute.

“I am exerting hard to increase the rounds of clasped hands around the body to 60 in a minute and then I will contact the Guinness Book of World Records to register my rare success. The regular practice has rid me of blood pressure and I am maintaining an ideal weight,” he said.

Claiming to be the first amateur to achieve this feat in the country, Sharma said this skill could be performed any time during the day but should be avoided immediately after meals. UNI
