Health camp at Mandi Khera receives good response
Tribune News Service

Mandi Khera (Gurgaon), December 17
A 10-day health camp, organised by the district administration exclusively for the handicapped, has received good response from the residents of the area. The camp, organised by the District Red Cross Society, is the first of its kind in this district.

According to official figure, more than 1,000 patients registered themselves in the camp during the past two days.

Several leading voluntary organisations and charitable institutions are actively involved with the health camp. The patients are being provided medical care free of cost along with supportive equipment like artificial limbs and medicines.

Provisions have also been made for surgery of polio patients. Doctors from the Health Department as well as those from private hospitals have been involved in the health camp.

A basic philosophy has guided the district administration in organising the event in the Mewat area. Mewat is considered to be the most backward area of Haryana.

With rampant poverty and illiteracy, health care is the last thing on the minds of the residents of Mewat, dominated by Meo Muslims. Hence, the purpose of the camp would be better served by organising the event in the Mewat area. According to official sources, even patients from Mewat area of Rajasthan have also registered themselves in the camp.
