Property registration prices slashed
Tribune News Service

Ludhiana, December 5
The Deputy Commissioner, Mr Anurag Aggarwal, has agreed to reconsider the issue of the enhanced rates of registration deeds in Ludhiana. Registration prices were raised in September amidst strong resistance by property dealers.

Disclosing this here today, the local MLA, Mr Surinder Dawar, said Mr Aggarwal had agreed to reconsider the enhanced rates of registration deeds and claimed the enhancement made in September would be reduced to benefit the people involved in the trade of property and those buying land for building houses.

Mr Dawar said with the enhancement, the property dealers had suffered a set back and the people had to pay much higher rates in the city than other parts of the state.

He said apart from him, other leaders, including Mr Rakesh Pandey, Minister for Printing and Stationery, Mr H.D. Johar, Mr Malkiat Singh Birmi, Mr Malkiat Singh Dakha, all MLAs, and Mr Nahar Singh Gill, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, had led a number of deputations and requested the Deputy Commissioner to reconsider the enhancement issue.

As the case involved a large amount of revenue for the state exchequer, Congress leaders had also approached the Chief Minister, who had assured them relief for residents of Ludhiana.

Mr Dawar said a deputation led by him and other leaders had also taken up the matter with Mr H.S. Hanspal, president, PPCC, to seek his help on the issue.
