New Delhi, November 30
Mrs P. M. Singh, Chairperson, NDMC, launched a two-day Civic Awareness Campaign in Lodhi Garden this morning. Hundreds of students of four
NDMC-run Navyug Schools are participating in the campaign.
They carried placards with slogans to attract the people towards the civic responsibilities. They performed Nukkad Nataks about measures to keep the garden neat, clean and green before visitors at the garden.
The NDMC’s public parks, particularly the big parks that are spread in the focal points of New Delhi area, are quite popular and are visited by people of all ages. Though considered as the lungs of New Delhi area, it has been noticed in the past few years that these parks are being spoilt. They are loosing their desired greenery and beauty. People hold public meetings and parties without seeking permission from the authority concerned, and litter the park in one way or the other. People also move with their dogs without leash and also even during non-prescribed hours. This has created an environment of nuisance and is also inviting public criticism. The matter has also been raised in the high court, which had given some directions to the NDMC to keep the public parks clean and free from such nuisance.
The campaign will continue tomorrow also from 8 am to 4 pm. Students of four Navyug Schools — Lodhi Colony, Laxmibai Nagar, Sarojini Nagar and Moti Bagh – are participating in the campaign.
In another development, Mrs Tajdar
Babar, MLA and member of the NDMC, inaugurated a Health Camp at Sangh Mess, Bhagwan Dass Road this morning, which was a part of the Stree Shakti campaign. This is the third camp organised in the NDMC area to provide health care services at the doorstep of the residents. Earlier, camps were organised in Gole Market and Sarojini Nagar assembly constituencies.
