HC says ‘no’ to compulsory relocation of slum dwellers
New Delhi, November 30
The Delhi High Court today struck down a policy framed by the government, which seeks compulsory allotment of alternative sites for relocated slum dwellers. Describing the policy without any social criteria as illegal and arbitrary, the court proceeded to quash the scheme, which requires alternative sites to be provided to slum dwellers occupying public land before they can be removed from it.

Last of the diesel buses to go off the road today
New Delhi, November 30
With the last batch of 600 diesel buses going off the road from tomorrow, Delhi will become the first city in the world to have a fully CNG-based public transport system. The diesel buses have been phased out on the directions of the Supreme Court, to bring down the pollution level in the Capital.

Three inter-state gangsters nabbed
Noida, November 30
The Dadri police claim to have arrested three inter-state gangsters, who were involved in two cases of dacoity and murder recently. However, two of them escaped from custody. An amount of Rs 22,000, a country-made revolver, cartridges and a stolen motorbike have also been recovered.

One killed, 14 hurt as drain wall collapses
Noida, November 30
One sanitary worker was killed and 14 others sustained injuries when the wall of a drain, they were cleaning, collapsed over them. The Noida Authority had employed 130 workers on daily wages for the cleaning of the drain in Alkananda Apartments, near Sector 28, under Sector 20 police station.

Married woman raped by villager
Jhajjar, November 30
A married woman has reportedly been raped by a resident of Kher Khumar village for several days. The victim, wife of Manoj Kumar, resident of Jahajgarh, complained to the police today that the accused Krishan of Kheri Khomar village, took her and Manoj to Najafgarh on the pretext of providing a job to her husband.

Youth mowed down by school bus
New Delhi, November 30
Kamal (28), resident of Jhuggi cluster in Nangla Majhi, was reportedly hit by a Mater Die school bus near F-Gate of Supreme Court this afternoon. The victim later succumbed to his injuries in RML Hospital.

SBP launches computerisation drive
Panipat, November 30
With a view to providing value-added services to its customers, the State Bank of Patiala has launched a major computerisation drive. Announcing this after the inauguration of the newly upgraded and fully computerised branch here today, the Chief General Manager of SBP, Mr B. M. Jain, said of the 729 branches, 20 branches covering 97 per cent of business had been computerised and the rest would be computerised in the next two months. Similarly, anywhere banking facility was available at 17 branches.

Mrs P. M. Singh, Chairperson, NDMC, launched a two-day Civic Awareness Campaign in Lodhi Garden this morning. Hundreds of students of four NDMC-run Navyug Schools are participating in the campaign.

Separate AIDS wings in Govt hospitals soon
New Delhi, November 30
Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit today announced that separate wings for HIV/AIDS patients would be set up in the hospitals run by the government in the Capital. Speaking at the inauguration of an Advocacy Workshop for mediapersons on HIV/AIDS, organised by the Delhi AIDS Control Society and the Delhi Union of Journalists, Ms Dikshit said since prevention was the only means available to tackle the disease her government had put a lot of thrust on increasing awareness about the dreaded disease taking the aid of NGOs. Spreading awareness to end this killer disease
Dharamshila Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Vasundhara Enclave is observing December as cancer awareness month for women. Quoting World Health Organisation projections, DCHRC Director, Dr S. Khanna said that 33 per cent of Indian women are likely to get cancer in their lifetime. This is despite the fact that 40 per cent of cancers in women can be detected at an early stage when they are completely curable.

The Rohtak station of the All India Radio is set to revive the tradition of broadcasting ball by ball running commentary on domestic cricket matches.
