50 Maoists shot

At least 50 Maoist rebels were believed dead when Nepal’s army attacked a guerrilla hideout in the west of the kingdom, a newspaper reported today. Officials confirmed the battle that took place yesterday in Lamjung district, about 125 km from the capital, but said they were awaiting details from the remote area. AFP

Ludhiana, November 23
Former Agriculture Minister Gurdev Singh Badal was arrested by the Ludhiana Vigilance Bureau from Faridkot late tonight. According to information, he has been arrested on corruption charges. TNS
