Army chief to visit Italy
NEW DELHI: Indian Army chief Gen S. Padmanabhan will pay a six-day goodwill visit to Italy next week to firm up defence ties between the two countries. According to reports General Padmanabhan would be accompanied by senior military officials and would visit Italy between October 29 and November 3. Some of the issues to be discussed would be increasing the military exchanges between the two countries and also having joint training and exercises between the two armies. TNS

K.P.S. Gill to be honoured
NEW DELHI: Former super cop K.P.S Gill will be felicitated on Sunday by Pandit K. Santanam Smarak Samiti for developing a strategy to counter the menace of terrorism. Mr Gill will also be presented the Santanam Award for National Integration. The award is commemorates the memory of Pandit K. Santanam of Lahore and Kumbakonam of Tamil Nadu. TNS
