Rajeev emerges karting champ
Our Sports Reporter

New Delhi, October 1
Rajeev Patel of Baroda emerged the champion in the National Karting Championship, the second leg of the MRF-MAI Formule Mondiale, at the Pole Position Karting track in Coimbatore.

The event started off with the National Karting finals. Rajeev Patel took off from the start and never looked back as he held on to his lead till the end. But it was not easy, as Jagdish Patel kept at his heel, and threatened to overtake Rajeev at the slightest opportunity.

Rajeev, however, very skilfully kept his head and ensured that not an inch was given to Jagdish as he valiantly fought to squeeze through. They fought neck and neck throughout the 48-lap race, which had the crowd continuously on their feet. Rajeev’s advantage was the speed he generated on the straight while Jagdish made good use of the turns. Eventually, it was Rajeev’s perfectly-run race that saw him through, not giving even the slightest opportunity for Jagdish to capitalise on any error.

S Prasanna Krishna won the senior’s event of the second round of the Indian Karting Cup while Chennai’s Ashwin Sunder pipped Saravanen Tmars to score his second straight championship victory.
