A delegation from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, visited Punjab Agricultural University today to study the teaching, research and extension set-up of the university.
The delegation, which comprised Mr B.G. Mugadur, IFS (retd) and two progressive farmers, Mr A.S. Viswanatha and Mr Y.R. Khan, held a meeting with the Vice- Chancellor, Deans and Directors of the university. They were highly impressed with the close interaction between PAU scientists and farmers.

Aulakh, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, told the visiting team that the main reason behind the close interaction was the progressive outlook of the farmers and their willingness to adopt new technologies.
Later, the team held discussions with the field extension workers and some farmers at the Farmers’ Service Centre of the university.
The team visited the Museum of Plant Breeding, University Dairy Farm, Plant Clinic and the Museum of Social History of Punjab.
The team will visit the Golden Temple, Amritsar, besides witnessing the retreat ceremony at the Wagah Border outpost. On the way, they will also visit some farms and have discussions with the farmers.
The team was accompanied by Prof M.G.Govindaiah, Prof and Head, Department of Animal Breeding, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore.
