125 hospitalised
Pune, September 9
Nearly 125 persons were hospitalised for suspected food poisoning after they consumed food at “Sthanakvasi Jain Sravak Sangh” in Akurdi, near here, today, the police said.
The people started feeling uneasy after partaking food to break their fast in the afternoon.
They also complained of headache and started vomiting, following which they were admitted to government-run Yashwantrao Chavan Hospital and Lokmanya Hospital in
Akurdi. Some of the affected people have also been admitted to private hospitals in different places, police said adding all the affected people were out of danger.
The people had eaten basundi, srikhand, jilebi and rice.

The Bihar police is investigating into the alleged involvement of a large number of high officials and some politicians in a sex racket which was busted following the arrest of a former Congress leader’s wife Anuradha Singh on Saturday, the police said. During the interrogation of Anuradha Singh in connection with the murder of a kidnapped chartered accountant Girish Chandra Poddar, the police stumbled upon a diary containing names and contact numbers of call girls, high officials and politicians, city Superintendent of Police O. N. Bhaskar said here, adding that the information was being verified.
