‘CBSE exams should be given weightage’
Asha Ahuja

Mr. R.S. Gill, Principal, is a busy man. He day starts early in the morning and remains on his toes throughout the day. He resides on the campus. Therefore, he is available round the clock. He complains that no weightage is given to the achievements of a student in CBSE exams in the various competitive exams. Atleast 30 to 40 % weightage should be given to these exams as students work very hard .

On education

* The education should become more job oriented. Right from matric, vocational courses should be started which should enable the students to get some job. At the same time the students can pursue their further studies with their own funds through correspondence courses or by joining evening classes. Various computer related subjects like multimedia and Audio-Visuals aids should be use to make the classroom teaching more interesting.

On discipline

* Discipline is the first and foremost thing. We, here in GNP do not believe in corporal system. From this year we have started, A Conduct Card System'. Every student is given 100 points to begin with. With each indisciplined behaviour, the students loses some points. The students know that for using 'abusive language , he/ she would lose 10 points. For not doing the home work 2 points and so on and so forth. The parents are also told that if a student loses 50 points , he will be expelled. This Conduct Card System has worked well. The students know exactly where they stand if they break the discipline. This has helped in improving the girls and boys relationships.

Importance of Religion

* 'Langar distribution, ' Chaur Sewa' is done by the students on Guru Nanak Dev's birthday. Those students who excel in 'kanth path' saying of 'ardas', reciting of path' are awarded on that day. On Teachers' Day, is the self governing day for the students. Religion is the back bone of the society and helps us to teach moral values to students by citing examples of good deeds of Gurus.

Poems by students

Drugs

Drugs, Drugs go away,

Never try to come in my way,

I know that you're not a friend of mine,

without you my life would be much fine,

You will take away happiness in my life,

I know that you are sharper than any knife.

For you lie is like a toy,

which you can very easily destroy.

I will never shake your hand,

'Cause I know you will play my band.

If you think that I 'll easily get addicted to you,

Then I',m sorry 'cause that's what I'd never do.

You part us from our families and friends,

Yet, your addiction in these days in becoming a trend,

But I promise that somebody you'll have to go,

When seeds of unity on earth we'll sow

Then we all will say goodbye to you,

And nothing you'll be able to do.

Amandeep Kaur, Class IX-D

Life is Fun

Life is full of fun,

Where we have to run ad run

Nobody makes use of it

But we should always try a bit

It's where we have to be,

What we have to do, we have to see, Life is running like a rabbit

In which we have to make living a habit, Life is a bet

In which success is what we have to get

Asheesh and Ramnik, Class IX-A

Holidays

Holidays are fun

So run and have run

Play indoors with dolls

and outdoor with footballs

some flying kites

but gluttons taking bites

Eating ice-creams

getting sweet dreams

sitting under tree

reading books, writing poetry

Buying too many toy cars

or sleeping for long hours

Eating toffees like googly'and

watching TV serials like Kundali

Holidays, holidays come again

develop and give rest to brain

Jalnidh Kaur, Class V-H

My Sister

My sister is still a miss

she is fifteen but creates my strips

By putting clothes jumbly

but does not spend a penny,

but she loves her cousin Annie

She is ready for hair cutting

But is lazy for working

she wants to be slim and trim

but does not do dieting

she likes Deol Sunny but not the money

Guraftaab S. Grewal, Class V-A

Cartoons

Cartoons are funny

But they irritate my mummy

They are great

I wonder how they are made

I cannot watch them everyday because

I have to do work and play

I am crazy about them, it's true

But I have to do my homework too

I like to watch many of them

I love cartoons when I watch them

My mother shower me with harpoons

I feel that I am in cage and in a race

I want cartoonist harpoons.
