Lt Gen S. K. Sinha retd has been reappointed as the Governor of Assam, “the President has been pleased to appoint Lt-Gen S. K. Sinha as Governor of Assam for a fresh term on the expiry of the present term on August 31,” a Rashtrapati Bhavan note said. UNI

Soldier dies in blast
Kathmandu, August 29
A Nepalese soldier was killed today when the bomb he was defusing exploded at Lalitpur, six km from here, army sources said. The bomb exploded prematurely at Hoka Bahal of Lalitpur district as the bomb disposal team was trying to defuse it, they said. PTI
