Home town awaits hockey’s golden girl Rohtak, August 8 According to Mamta’s family sources, she is likely to arrive at Rohtak on August 10 for the first time after her return from Manchester, where she helped her team win laurels. A large number of telephone calls, most of them from mediapersons and sports enthusiasts, continue to receive at Model Town residence of Mamta’s parents. In the meantime, several organisations are planning to organise felicitation functions to honour Mamta. The president of the Haryana Olympic Association, Abhay Singh Chautala, has already announced that the medalists of Commonwealth Games belonging to Haryana will be honoured appropriately. But the local DAV school has taken a lead in this direction by deciding to host a felicitation function to honour Mamta Kharab, who netted the match winner in semifinal against New Zealand and scored the golden goal in the final against England, on August 13, according to the Principal, Rajesh Jain. The function will be held at DAV School’s new campus, situated on Rohtak-Delhi Road. In Mamta’s home state, perhaps this will be the first of many functions lined-up for her in the next couple of days. The District administration is also planning to honour her, it is reliably learnt. |
