The government today came under pressure to review the Prime Minister’s decision to cancel allotment of over 3,000 petrol stations and gas and kerosene agencies, with petrol station owners threatening to take the matter to court, even as public sector oil companies filed caveats in high courts and the Supreme Court to ensure that no order was passed by any court against the cancellation of dealerships.

non-bailable warrant against Haryana IG (Prisons) Ravi Kant Sharma, a prime
suspect in the murder of journalist Shivani Bhatnagar, even as the Delhi
police announced a reward of Rs 50,000 on him.

bans promotions
Chandigarh, August 7
The Punjab Government has put a blanket
ban on promotions. A directive in this connection has been issued by the
Personnel Department to all Financial Commissioners, Administrative
Secretaries and others concerned. The government has directed the officers
concerned not to hold any meeting of the departmental promotion committees
till further orders.
