Indian with Al-Qaida links held in
Italy
Rome, August 4
An Indian arms dealer suspected of having links with the Al-Qaida was arrested by the Italian police in the city of Crema, southeast of Milan, the Italian media reported today. Ruprah Sanijvan, who had been freed from imprisonment in Belgium on bail of $ 987,000, was travelling on a forged Belgian passport when he was arrested yesterday. Reports said the 36-year-old Sanijvan had been kept under constant surveillance by the Italian police, which expected him to meet another unnamed suspect. However, he was arrested when the other suspect did not turn up. DPA
PWG ultras kill two
Patna, August 4
In a retaliatory move, People’s War Group (PWG) extremists shot dead two CPI(ML)-Liberation activists at Ramdeo Chak village in Bihar’s Jehanabad district, the police said today. State Director-General of Police R.R. Prasad said the PWG ultras attacked the village late last night and abducted 10 CPI(ML) supporters. The released seven of them and gunning down two.

Mehmood readmitted
Bangalore, August 4
Hindi film comedian of yesteryear Mehmood has been hospitalised again, shortly after he was discharged following “nasal bleed”, sources at the hospital have said. Mehmood was discharged last evening from the Wockhardt Hospital where he was admitted on Sunday last for respiratory problems, but was brought back later in the night, sources said. Doctors said today that Mehmood, who was in the Intensive Care Unit, was stable and his vital parameters were normal. “There is nothing to worry”, they said.
