Trader drugged, looted
Ludhiana, July 7
In yet another incident of looting a passenger in a bus or a train, a Ludhiana-based trader coming to the city from Delhi was drugged and looted of Rs 70,000 somewhere after Ambala on the route by some unidentified persons last night. The man rendered unconscious due to the drug was found lying near Hotel Amaltas at about midnight last night.

 
CRIME

2 liquor smugglers held
Ludhiana, July 7
Two liquor smugglers were arrested late last night by Excise officials after they were found selling illegal liquor in the city. According to the Excise and Taxation Officer, Ludhiana, Mr G S Bahia, following a tip-off that some people were indulging in liquor smuggling officials of the department conducted raids at 14 different places in the city.

Woman’s gold chain snatched
Ludhiana, July 7
Ms Raj Mohini, a woman who lives in Street Number 1 of Janak Puri here, was taken by surprise when chain-snatchers made her their target early yesterday. She was outside her house when a person snatched a gold chain from around her neck.
