Good response to blood donation camp

New Delhi, June 17
The Sant Nirankari Mission organised a blood donation camp on Sunday at Sant Nirankari Public School at Sector 16-A in Faridabad, where 215 followers of the mission from the town donated blood.

Organised in coordination with the Indian Red Cross Society, the camp was inaugurated by Dr S. P. Singh, Chief Medical Officer and Civil Surgeon, Faridabad. Mr J. N. Gahlot, secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society, Haryana was present on the occasion. Mr A. S. Chaudhary, sector in charge, Sant Nirankari Mandal, Faridabad represented the mission.

The team headed by Dr Vanashri Singh and Mrs Neera Bawa from Indian Red Cross Society, Delhi collected the blood.

This camp at Faridabad is the 59th in the series of 101 blood donation camps to be organised by the mission during this summer, when blood is generally in short supply. The series started with 40 camps on April 22.

ONGC, NSCC enter Hot Weather Cricket quarters

Dashing batting performances by Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy player Rizwan Shamshad (74 n o, 9x4, 1x6, 47b) and Rajasthan Ranji player Gagan Khoda (65, 6x4, 88b) helped Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) beat Young Cricketers by 120 runs to enter the quarter-final of the DDCA Hot Weather Cricket Tournament at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground.

At the Kotla I ground, National Stadium Coaching Centre beat Inborn Cricketers by 16 runs, also to make the last eight grade. ONGC will take on Chand Khanna Club in the quarter-final on June 20 at the Kotla I ground.

Scores: ONGC: 246 for 3 wickets in 40 overs (Rizwan Shamshad 74 n o, 1x6, 9x4, 47b; Gagan Khoda 65, 6x4, 88b; Mithun Manhas 46 n o, 5x4, 39b; Radhey Shyam Gupta 35, 1x6, 1x4; Sandeep Sharma 19; Madan Sharma 2 for 38; Geet Vats 1/37).

Young Cricketers: 126 all out in 27.4 overs (Sunil Kashyap 26; Deepak Rajput 24;

Maninder Singh and Rameez Naimat put on a fine batting performance to star in NSCC’s victory. Maninder Singh was named the man of the match.

Scores: NSCC: 170 all out in 40 overs (Rameez Naimat 46, Maninder Singh 41, Rajkapoor 2 for 27, Dilip TT 2 for 31, Suresh Tanwar 2 for 24).

Inborn Cricketers: 154 all out in 37.2 overs (Arun Chaudhary 29 n o, Vishal Razdan 27, V Arvind 2 for 31, Hanish Arora 2 for 31).

Indian Air Force beat Golden Hawks Club by 72 runs to enter the quarter-final at the Air Force ground, Palam. Air Force will clash against Indian Airlines in the quarter-final at the Kotla I ground on June 19.

Deepak Bhaskar, who played a all-round role (42 and 4 for 11) for Indian Air Force, was declared the man of the match.

Scores: Indian Air Force: 191 for 9 in 40 overs (Deepak Bhaskar 42, Imran Khan 28, Vinay Dheer 31, Surender 4 for 40, Tarun Gupta 2 for 41, Ajit Ranjan 2 for 24).

Golden Hawks: 119 all out in 31.3 overs (Mridul Gupta 39, Deepak Bhaskar 4 for 11, Vinay Dheer 2 for 20).

Maninder Bisla bowls Indian Airlines to victory

A devastating bowling performance by India Under-19 vice-captain and medium-pacer Maninder Bisla (5 for 17) and an unbeaten 46 by Karnataka Ranji Trophy player J Arun Kumar helped star-studded Indian Airlines beat Business Standard by nine wickets to enter the quarter-final of the sixth Lala Hari Ram Aggarwal
Memorial Day-Night Cricket Tournament at the Karnail Singh stadium in the Capital.

Business Standard won the toss and opted to bat. But they were bundled out for 95 in 23 overs due to the deadly bowling of Maninder Bisla.

Only Mukesh Yadav put up some resistance to score 44 runs, with the aid of six fours.

Bisla, in his 5.4 overs spell, claimed five wickets. Punjab Ranji Trophy medium-pacer Gagan Deep Singh took two wickets for 11 runs and Haryana left-arm spinner had a haul of 2 for 6.

Indian Airlines, in reply, raced to the winning target for the loss of one wicket in just 10.2 overs. Arun Kumar set the tempo with a crackling 46 off 22 balls with five fours and three sixes. Manish Sharma remained not out on 32 off 23 balls with three fours and two sixes.

Maninder Bisla was adjudged the BDM Man of the Match and was honoured by chief guest Narinder Jain. Arun Kumar got the best batsman award.

Scores: Business Standard: 95 all out in 23 overs (Mukesh Yadav 44, Maninder Bisla 5 for 17, Sonu Sharma 2 for 6, Gagan Deep Singh 2 for 11).

Indian Airlines: 100 for 1 in 10.2 overs (J Arun Kumar 46 n o, Manish Sharma 32). Chand Khanna meet Rajdhani Sports in the next match.

Uttaranchal organises cricket camp

The Uttaranchal Cricket Association felicitated Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Arun Jaitley, DDCA vice-president C K Khanna and club secretary Sunil Khanna when they visited the ongoing cricket camp for Under-14, under-16 and under-19 at the Indian Institute of Petroleum cricket ground at Dehra Dun on Sunday.

The DDCA officials visited Dehra Dun at the invitation of Uttaranchal Cricket Association president Pardeep Singh. Mr Sunil Khanna, who is also the patron of the Uttaranchal Cricket Association, said the junior cricketers attending the coaching camp had been selected from 13 districts of the Uttaranchal State during the Inter-District Cricket Tournament held in December and January.

Mr Sunil Khanna said a three-member team of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), consisting of Shivlal Yadav, Sharad Diwakar and Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, visited Uttaranchal to inspect the cricket infrastructure and grounds available in the new-born State of the erstwhile Uttar Pradesh

The committee has already submitted its report to the BCCI.

Delhi Cantt storm into final

Delhi Cantonment recorded their fourth straight victory when they defeated Nivia 4-2 to move into the final of the second Five-a-Side Raman Lamba Memorial Football Tournament for the Ambuja Cup at the Ambedkar Stadium in the Capital on Monday.

Delhi Contoment topped the league table and will take on Simla Youngs in the final. Simla Youngs finished second in the league after they got a walkover from Golden Stars. The final will be played on Wednesday.

In the Cantt-Nivia match, the latter scored first when Sitaram Singh put the ball home in the third minute. But Trilok Rawat got the equaliser for Cantt in the 10th minute. A brace by Sudipto Chakravorty put Cantt in the lead. In between, Kapial Yadav struck for Nivia to net their second goal. Cantt rounded off their tally with a goal by Unmesh Upadhyaya.

Food Corporation of India (FCI), North Zone trounced Delhi Transport Corporation 10-2 in the morning session.

Trilok Bisht (3), Devesh Kaushik (3), Sanjeev Bhalla, B S Rawat, Amit and Ravi Rana were the scorers for FCI. Rajesh Bisth and SS Negi got the goals for DTC. Tuesday’s fixture: FCI vs Delhi Audit; 5.15 pm—Ambedkar Stadium.

Dronacharya Foundation beat GDA by 7 wickets

Dronacharya Cricket Foundation (DCF) beat Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) by seven wickets in a limited-over match played at the GDA ground.

Scores: GDA: 152 all out in 35 overs (Gaurav 19, Vashisht 19, Amandeep Singh 2 for 19 off four overs, Lohit Sharma 2 for 11 off 5 overs). DCF: 156 for 3 in 31 overs (Harsh Pahwa 69 n o, 14x4; Abhishekh Kapoor 24, 2x4; Yatish 2 for 22 off 7 overs). In another match, Dronacharya Foundation beat Modern School by 54 runs.

Scores: DCF: 231 for 4 (Sunny Bhatia 75 off 60b, Nitin Goel 61 off 81b, Vaibhav R 31 n o, 24b, Manik Babbar 3 for 27).

Yogesh Nagar played a fine knock of 70 with good support from Shobhit Kaushik (63) and deadly bowling of 3 for 21 by leg-spinner Tarun Kumar helped defending champions Salwan Boys School beat Gyan Bharti Saket by 90 runs and entered the final of the second Karnail Singh Memorial Under-14 Cricket Tournament at the Salwan Boys School ground.

Top seed Sheethal Goutham opened her Masters’s account in an easy manner when she routed Archana Venkataraman 6-0,6-2 in the ITF Women’s Circuit Masters’ Tennis Tournament at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association court in the Capital. But second-seeded Shruti Dhawan had to sweat it out to overcome Samrita Sekar 4-6,6-3,6-1. Similarly, Geeta Manohar too had to battle it out hard to beat Kamini Murugaboopat at 5-7, 6-1,6-4. The other matches were all straight-set affairs as Sonal Phadke beat Iciri Rai 6-1,6-3, Ankit Bhambri downed Lata Assudani 7-5,6-2, Medini Sharma beat Deepa Chakrabarty 6-1,7-5, Liza Pereira beat Preeti Rao 6-2,6-2 and Radhika Tulpule beat Priyanka Parekh 6-1,6-0.
