Blood donation camp for thalaessemic children

Ludhiana, June 8
Over 40 voluntary NSS donors donated blood for thalaessemic children at a blood donation camp at Pal Auditorium of PAU here today.

According to a press release, the donated blood will be given to the thalaessemic children of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.

Dr Parveen Sobti, in charge of the thalaessemic unit said that the blood of such patients is in a need to be changed every month.

Those who donated blood also included Dr H.S. Jassal, Program Officer of College of Agriculture, Mr S.S. Sooch, Mr Balwinder Singh and Ms Neena.

This camp was inaugurated by Mr J.S. Toor.

Atul, Jashanpreet help LDCA XI win

Ludhiana, June 8
A strokeful (67) by Atul Kohli, consistent bowling by Jashanpreet (3 for 18) and a fine all-round display by Gaurav Dawar (19 runs, 2 for 16) helped LDCA XI (A) to register a win by 24 runs over SAN Jain Senior Secondary School in the Sixth Chaman Lal Malhotra Cricket Cup Tournament for Boys U-15, being organised by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association at the Arya College for Boys grounds here today.

LDCA XI won the toss and opted to bat. They scored 167 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted quota of 25 overs. Their batting revolved around Atul Kohli (67), Parveen Saroye and Puneet Garg, who chipped in with 20 runs each.

Needing a total of 168 runs, SAN Jain Senior Secondary School were cruising along well towards the target, with Chinton Sehgal (39) and Tarun Passi (24) playing useful innings but some accurate and penetrative bowling by LDCA XI’s Jashanpreet and Gaurav Dawar saw their side restricting SAN Jain team to a total of 143 runs.

Brief scores: LDCA XI (A)- 167 for 6 in 25 overs ( Atul Kohli 67, Gaurav Dawar 19, Parveen Saroye 20, Puneet Garg 20, Sanjeev 4 for 16, Vishal Passi 1 for 13 and Pawan 1 for 20)

SAN Jain Senior Secondary School 143 all out in 24 overs (Chinton Sehgal 39, Tarun Passi 24, Karan 18, Mukul Gupta 1 for 23, Nakul 2 for 25, Jashanpreet 3 for 18 and Gaurav Dawar 2 for 16).
