Encroachments on Mall Road removed
Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, April 26
In a bid to ensure more parking space in front of shopping complexes on Mall Road, the Municipal Corporation today removed unauthorised constructions.

According to official sources, the MC team removed fencing at Surya Kiran AC Market; marble floor at Lodhi Complex; and a hump at Gautier showroom.

While talking to Ludhiana Tribune, one of the owners said: “This is a wrong act on the part of the MC officials as they are supposed to give notice before removing any structure.”

He said all of a sudden, a team of officials came and started demolishing structures in the name of anti-encroachment drive.

However, the Additional Municipal Commissioner, Mr Raminder Singh, said: “We have demolished the encroachments only at the parking place for which we do not have to serve any notice.”

He said according to the rules, the MC was authorised to remove the encroachments on any road or at space earmarked for parking without serving any notice.
