3 die in train mishap
Ranchi, April 17
At least three persons were killed and about 12 others injured when five coaches of the Asansol-Bareilly train derailed between Chaubey and Saraiyya stations in Giridih district of Jharkhand this afternoon. The Inspector-General of Railways, Mr Neyaz Ahmed, said the accident occurred at 1.45 p.m. when the train was going to Bareilly from Asansol. PTI

“Lagaan” bags top prize in Denmark
New Delhi, April 17
“Lagaan”, nominated for the best foreign film at the Oscars, has won the top Audience Prize of Rs 5.60 lakh at the prestigious Nightfilm Festival Award in Denmark. It competed with 142 movies at the event in which all Copenhagen cinemas participated recently, a Danish Embassy press note here today said. “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” was also making headlines as it came third in the Audience Prize.
