Our Correspondent

Ludhiana, April 17
The state Health Minister, Mr R. C. Dogra, said here today that the previous government had wasted a lot of money by purchasing medicines that were not required. However, he assured that the new government would not make such purchases. Mr Dogra, who was here to inaugurate a health awareness campaign for truck drivers, said, his priority was to restore public confidence in civil hospitals. He said these hospitals were well-equipped, but the standard of service seemed to have come down.

The Health Minister appreciated the initiative taken by British Petroleum in organising free medical check-up camps for truck drivers. A British Petroleum spokesman said, the campaign was aimed at truck drivers because they did not have much time to visit hospitals.
