deal Rohtak, March 22 The HOA President said that besides government, all boards and corporations in the state are extending the benefit of three percent reservation in jobs to the sports persons. He said that profit generating boards and corporations in Haryana are in the process of adopting one sports each aiming to win medals at national and international events. He claimed that 400 sportspersons have been provided with jobs so far. Highligting the statement government’s efforts to improve infrastructure at the grass root level, Mr. Abhey Chautala said that one hundred and fourteen blocks and all villages in Haryana having a population of over ten thousand will have stadium. Cricket semis New Delhi, March 22 In a match played at the Bhagat Singh College ground, KPMG scored 195 runs with Preet Singh emerging as the top-scorer with 55. Rajat Marwah and Jiten Chopra scored 27 runs each while Amit of Hugues claimed three wickets for 24 runs in six overs and Ashwin took two wickets. Hughes Software Systems, in reply, could make only 194 runs. Praveen made a compact 73 while Jiten Chopra of KPMG took three wickets and Rajat and Pradeep two wickets each. Jiten Chopra was declared the man of the match. HCL defeated Canon by 114 runs at the Kendriya Vidyalaya ground. HCL scored 208 for 6 in 25 overs while Canon were all out for 94 in 19 overs. Rajiv Gupta of HCL was declared the man of the match. The CRY-Cadence Cricket Tournament will raise funds for CRY's ongoing programme in the aid of underprivileged children. Gail win in Teri Cup:

Delhi Horse Show to be
day-night event New Delhi, March 22 The DHS 2002 has been made a day-night affair to beat the heat, and also to give a new dimension to the sport, in a bid to attract more spectators. Therefore, the horse show will be held in two sessions – in the morning and evening, continuing till 10 pm. The 17th edition of the Delhi Horse Show will have competitors from across the country in four categories--senior, junior, sub-junior and children. Over 200 competitors will participate in the DHS. The participants will include civilians, personnel from the Services, police and para-military forces. Some of the best names in show jumping will also be exhibiting their skills during the DHS. DHS show secretary Parvati Devi said the competitions promise to be tough and challenging as both the riders and horses are unused to participating under bright artificial lights. |
Sports fest at Rewari New Delhi, March 22 Deputy Commissioner of Rewari, Vineet Garg, said competitions will be held in athletics, volleyball, kabaddi, basketball, handball, hockey, wrestling and table tennis. He said hockey matches will be played at the KLP College ground while the table tennis matches will be played at the Satish Public
School hall. Mr Garg said the participants will be provided free boarding and lodging facilities. Rewari is hosting such a big sports festival for the first time. |
