Kuldip Bhatia

Ludhiana, February 11
Both the district authorities and the civic administration remain unresponsive to a long-standing demand of residents of several adjoining localities for installing traffic lights at the Karabara and New Grain Market intersection, which has led to growing discontentment among the people.

Several residents of Nanak Nagar, Arjun Nagar, New Sabzi Mandi, Karabara, Azad Nagar, New Azad Nagar, Bahadarke, Kasabad and Bharti Colony said repeated memorandums, reminders and personal visits to senior district and Municipal officials had failed to elicit any positive response. “In the absence of trafficlights and proper enforcement of traffic regulations at one of the busiest intersections, road accidents, at times fatal, have become a routine and many a precious lives have been lost due to apathy and callous attitude of the administration”.
