40 hurt in fresh Jaipur violence
Jaipur, January 29
At least 40 persons, including two senior police officials, were injured as fresh communal violence rocked parts of the city today as the police had to open fire in the air to disperse a mob. Trouble erupted when police and civil officials were holding peace talks with members of one community when people belonging to another community hurled stones on them at Amritpuri locality which witnessed communal clash yesterday following straying of pigs into a wedding feast. SP (North) Anand Srivastawa and the Deputy SP were among 30 policemen injured in stone-pelting, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Ajit Singh said. PTI

Leopardess dead
Ahmedabad, January 29
Ahmedabad’s Kamla Nehru Zoo lost one of its old feline friends late last night when attendants found the 16-year-old lame leopardess ‘Tedi’, dead in her cage, Zoo Superintendent R.K. Sahoo said. ‘Tedi’ was a healthy leopardess that died of old age, according to Mr Sahoo. UNI
