Rainfall: Rain or snow has occurred at a few places in Uttaranchal and at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh. Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in east UP and at isolated places in Haryana and west UP. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cms. are: UP: Bahraich 2 and Gorakhpur 1, Uttaranchal: Dehra Dun 2. Snowfall Report (cms): Himachal Pradesh: Kalpa 43, Dhundi 14, Bhang 4 and Patisio 1.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell appreciably in Haryana, east Rajasthan, west UP and Uttaranchal, fell in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and west Rajasthan and changed a little in east UP. Departures: They were markedly below normal in Punjab and Uttaranchal, appreciably below normal in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and east Rajasthan, below normal in Haryana, west Rajasthan and west UP and above normal in east UP.

The lowest temperature in the plains was 1.4°C recorded at Adampur (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 30, 2002: Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in east UP and at isolated places in west UP. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Low temperature warning: Ground frost is likely at a few places in Punjab and Haryana during the next two nights.
