Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell in west Uttar Pradesh and changed a little elsewhere. Departures: They were appreciably below normal in west Uttar Pradesh, below normal in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan, above normal in east Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region.

The lowest temperature in the plains was 1°C recorded at Adampur (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 24, 2002: Rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in east Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of January 24, 2002: Mainly clear sky. Chilly winds to continue. Mist in the morning. Minimum temperature will be around 5°C.
