Cold wave likely to persist

Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures changed little.

Departures: They were appreciably below normal in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, below normal in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir and normal in the rest of the region.

The lowest temperature in the plains was 1.6°C recorded at Adampur (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 6: Weather will be dry over the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of January 6: Clear sky. Cold wave likely to prevail. Fog in the morning. Minimum temperature will be around 4°C.

Farmers weather bulletin for Delhi, forecast valid until the morning of January 6: Sky will be mainly clear.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change

Adampur coldest in Punjab

Chandigarh, January 4
Most parts in the plains of Punjab and Haryana remained engulfed in dense fog today as the intense cold conditions continued with the minimum temperature hovering between 2 to 5°C below normal making Adampur in Punjab the coldest place with the mercury dropping to as low as 1.6 °C.

In Punjab, after Adampur the temperature dropped to 2.4 °C in Ludhiana and 2.5 °C in Amritsar which was 4 and 5 °C, respectively, below normal. The mercury plummeted to 3 °C in Patiala. PTI
