MiG 25 crashes near Jalandhar
Jalandhar, January 4
One person was killed when an MiG 25 crashed while landing at Adampur Air Force Station, near here, today. The incident occurred when the aircraft was landing and collided with a vehicle on the runway. While pilot Sq Ldr Bhullar bailed out of the plane, the driver of the vehicle, Vidyarthi, died on the spot. PTI

Cong sweeps Assam poll
Guwahati, January 4
The Congress has swept the panchayat poll in Assam bagging more than 70 per cent of the seats, crushing the AGP and the BJP. Although the results are slowly trickling in, it is clear that the Congress is far ahead of their rivals picking up all districts except Bongaigaon and Sonitpur. UNI
