chemists face action Chandigarh, August 27 Surprise checks are being conducted on identified chemists who have registered their shops on the names of pharmacists who do not even man the counters. As per rules a qualified pharmacist should be essentially present at the counter to issue medicines and bills. Interestingly, many city chemists are running their shops on licences either “hired or rented” from authorised pharmacists for Rs 1,000 per month and are giving medicines without a proper prescription from a qualified doctor. According to the Health Department, the chemist shops have to be run by persons holding technical degrees and licences and are always
physically present at the shop. Any chemist shop which is flouting the rules and regulations face suspension and cancellation of their licenses. |
